Is Early Childhood Education & Learning Taking A Backseat?

It is extremely strange that just like children the adults nowadays seem to have a very short-term memory on selective issues. “Precautions During Covid” being the top on the list.

“We have all being confined to our houses for more than a year because of Covid.” I now rephrase this sentence as I personally feel it’s absolutely wrong. The correct sentence would be, “We have all being made to be confined to our houses for almost a year because of the government-imposed lockdowns, weekend and night curfews, strict travel rules and so on.”

The mandatory RTPCR report while crossing any state border did confine a lot of vagabonding. The gypsy genes inside people are now seen extremely dominant. We are freely moving in market areas, even if the things can easily be ordered online. Shopkeepers and vendors are seen with their masks on the chin and still we don’t feel responsible to correct them or make sure to tell them that you would not be entering the particular shop as you feel that their guard is lowered.

We all feel reluctant in understanding the importance of staying protected. Most of us have children and we are extremely protective about them. My very close friend told me just the other day, “A consent for offline classes has come from my daughters’ school.  I am not giving consent and my daughter will only go to school once Corona is gone.” The family is just back from a weekend holiday at Shimla, that’s beside the point.

What’s surprising is that we aren’t able to put EDUCATION before SELF.

We simply can’t understand that history might repeat itself. How can we be oblivious to the lessons we should have learnt from the second wave? We are again being reckless.

We aren’t realizing that if we don’t change our attitude, this health crisis risk will turn into a child-rights crisis. Disruptions by the virus have a heavy impact on children; on their safety, their well-being, their future including their emotional and social wellbeing.

Being an educationalist and Co-founder of a preschool, I understand that if I am going to school every day, I need to restrict my social outings to a minimum so that I stay protected in order to keep my school children protected and this should be vice-versa too.

So, think about it, in order to not deprive your kids of their fundamental right to enjoy in a preschool, please restrict your urge to explore the market place or socialize.

Wear your mask properly, make your kids wear the mask appropriately when they get down from the car and enter the preschool. Please understand & appreciate that as a Preschool we at Niño & Niña are trying to inculcate the habit of wearing a mask among our children.

Please appreciate and understand that all the staff at Niño & Niña Preschool is only and only coming to school. We have restricted our traveling and socialising to ensure that we stay safe in order to keep our Niño & Niña safe.

We request you to help us stay safe !
